Kringvarp Føroya ( KvF ) is a public undertaking responsible for radio and television broadcasting in the Faroe Islands , an archipelago forming an autonomous territory of Denmark . It is the result of the merger in 2005 of Útvarp Føroya (Faroese Radio), a company founded in 1957, and of Sjónvarp Føroya (Faroese Television), a company founded in 1981. Its headquarters are in Tórshavn .

The decision to merge these two entities, taken in 2004 by the then Minister of Culture, Jógvan á Lakjuni , became effective on1 st January 2005.

It is an associate member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and is an associate member of the Nordvision network , which brings together Scandinavian public broadcasting companies.

Like Kalaallit Nunaata Radioa (Greenlandic radio and television), it operates in partnership with Danmarks Radio .
