The channel was created on January 1, 2004 from a fusion of RTN and TV Totaal. TVL has been broadcast across the province and has had eight editions. TVL was also available via a live Internet stream.
Until 2009, the chain was located at the Fortuna Sittard stadium. Since then, the studios have been located in the Retail Park of Roermond.
Revenues (advertising) had been declining for some time, partly due to competitor L1, and ultimately TV Limburg could no longer be maintained. TV Limburg's programs ended on July 1, 2016.
TV Limburg (TVL) was a regional television channel in the Dutch province of Limburg.
