French television 1 , better known by its acronym TF1 , is the first and oldest French national general-interest television channel . It was created on January 6 , 1975to succeed the first chain of the just dissolved ORTF . First a public service chain, it was privatized on April 16 , 1987and is now part of the TF1 group , mainly owned by the industrial group Bouygues and whose chairman is Gilles Pélisson
